Welcome to Thistle and Rose. My name is Melissa and I’m the creator behind this site. If you’re here, you probably purchased a cute new glass, or got a new hanger for your favorite plant. Or maybe you saw a sunflower seed post on Pinterest. From whichever way you’ve come, welcome, and thank you for being here! This page will show and tell you all about me and what I do.
I started this project as a way to keep my right brain happy and productive but also as a way to share my art and thoughts with the world – or at least the world around me. I have always wanted to be an artist. I have studied art and graphic design (and accounting – go figure) and I enjoy using my knowledge of both to create art and designs inspired by the world around me.
I live in sunny California with my family and am very much inspired by all of the nature around us. We recently moved back from the Oregon coast where we experienced so much natural beauty and are lucky to come home to nature all around us as well. The nature within both states inspires much of the artwork that I create. Being outside is one of my favorite pastimes, which makes it easy to find inspiration. My other inspiration is my daughter. Her strength, her softness and her joy make me want to be a better person. She loves to spend time with me outdoors, and it’s become my new favorite thing.
I hope my artwork conveys the happiness I feel when I am in nature and that it brings that joy out in others.
Current Services I’ve always loved creating and I’ve always loved finding new ways of stretching my creative muscles. Whether it be through design, making art, sewing, or cooking I’m always finding new ways to make my right brain happy. But I can’t leave my left brain out – I enjoy problem solving and helping clients achieve their visions for their projects or businesses. I am currently open for graphic design, web design, illustration, and photography and would love to do some mural painting as well. If you’re interested in working together, please feel free to shoot me a message – melissa.wooten88@gmail.com
